arriving in Israel a little exhausted we will be met by our perky tour
guide. On the way to the hotel, you’ll enjoy a panoramic tour of

DAY 3 (TEL-AVIV-TIBERIAS-MOUNT CARMEL-JEZREEL-MEGIDDO)
A buffet breakfast, then an air-conditioned bus ride along the Coastal Road to Caesarea (Acts 9 and 25), where Cornelius became the first Gentile convert and Paul testified before Agrippa (Act 21:8). At Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18) we'll walk up to the monastery roof built on the site where Elijah showed the Prophets of Baal something they wouldn't forget. Continue to Haifa and take in the unforgettable view from Mount Carmel. From Megiddo we'll overlook the Jezreel Valley, considered the Armageddon of the New Testament. Jewish-Christian purifying bath. Up
next: Nazareth Village (dating from 1 A.D., where excavators have renovated the synagogue and houses to give a
unique insight into village life and agriculture at the time of Jesus. Then off to the Jordan River, the
traditional baptism site of Jesus (some may want to renew baptism vows).
After seeing where Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves and two fish
(Mark 6), we'll return smiling to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner.
DAY 5 (TIBERIAS-MOUNT OF BEATITUDES-SEA OF GALILEE CRUISE-CAPERNAUM-GOLAN HEIGHTS-CAESEREA PHILIPPI)
begins at the Mount of Beatitudes (Matt 5-7). An easy stroll
down a Galilee hill takes us to Saint Peter’s Primacy Church (John 21)
on the shore of Galilee. Lunch (included) will be at Saint Peter’s Fish
Restaurant (!), then we continue a short distance to Capernaum (Matt.
4:13) the home of Jesus and Peter.
The archeological remains enable us to imagine Jesus
teaching in the synagogue. Then we board a boat for a cruise on
the Sea of Galilee! Next we drive through the Golan heights,
visit Caesarea Philippi (where Peter confessed that Jesus was the
Messiah), then return to our posh hotel in Tiberius for dinner.
After another great breakfast we'll head south to visit Bet Shean, one of the cities of the Decapolis, then through the Jordan Valley to our Dead Sea hotel for some first class pampering at http://www.herods-hotels.com/herods-dead-sea.
DAY 7 Breakfast and dinner at our Dead Sea Resort Hotel. You'll have time on your own to explore, swim, and relax. Phil might finally be able to float!
DAY 8 (JUNE 1-CABLE CAR UP MASADA-EN GEDI-JERUSALEM)
All rested up, we'll visit Masada, one of the ancient homes of Herod the Great. We will take a thrilling cable car up to the awe-inspiring fortress. After our descent we will drive to the nature reserve at En Gedi where David cut the end off Saul's robe. DAY 9 (KINGS DAVID'S PALACE-POOL OF SILOAM-DOME OF THE ROCK-WAILING WALL)
The morning begins with a tour of Jerusalem. See King David’s palace and the pool of Siloam (John 9:1-7). Enter the Dung Gate to visit the Wailing (or Western) Wall, and the Temple Area with the Al-Aksa Mosque and Dome of the Rock. Visit Davidson center and the southern steps, stroll through the western wall tunnels, and visit the Israel Museum with its 2nd temple period model and Shrine of the Book. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
DAY 10 (POOL OF BETHSEDA-VIA DOLOROSA-CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE-GARDEN TOMB)
This is the highlight for
many. Our guides will take us through
Saint Anne’s Crusader Church, the Pool of Bethseda and the Via Dolorosa
(with its stations of the Cross), then the Ethiopian Monastic Village,
Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Roman cistern, Calvary, Tomb of Joseph of
Aramethea, and finally to the Garden Tomb where we will celebrate the
Resurrection of Jesus and tour the garden. Then back to our hotel for dinner.
DAY 11 (BETHLEHEM-MOUNT OF OLIVES-GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE-UPPER ROOM
the Mount of Olives we’ll
visit the Tombs of the Prophets (Matt. 23:27-28), follow the Palm Sunday route walking down to Dominus Flevit, where
Jesus wept over the city (Luke 19:41), the Garden of Gethsemane, the Place of Ascension and the Pater Noster Church. On Mount Zion
the Upper Room, King David’s Tomb, view the Valley of Gehenom
(traditional doorway to the underworld), the
High Priest Caiaphas’s House, Jail of the Apostles, the Sacred Stairway,
and below it the traditional cave-stable of Jesus' birthplace. Finally, in
Bethlehem we'll visit the
Church of Nativity and the remains of ancient Bethlehem from the days of
Christ. Then back to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
DAY 12 Transfer to airport for our flight home via Toronto.
